Packed Up and Heading to CKC Louisville!!!

Well... not really packed. I don't have a thing packed but my 20 cards for the Paper Crafts Card Swap...

...one has to have her priorities right? Anyway, I'm really looking forward to attending my first swap! I can't wait to see what other wonderful creations other people are bringing!

As I make these guys:

  • I think it that this is the first time that I have made so many cards of the same design...
  • I also find it hard to believe that it was only 1 year ago when I made my first card... ever! It was this one that I made to enter into a card making contest at the CKC convention last year.

Wow.. what a difference a year makes:) Now I'm totally addicted!!!

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge... Flowers!!!

Today's challenge is an easy one & we hope you will join us to the welcome in an early spring (at least in blog-o-land anyway:) Today's challenge is to use flowers. Easy peasy! I pulled out the Prima and paired it Making Memories spring Flutter collection and some gingham from Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl collection to make a to do list & card (I thought this would make a nice little Easter gift for one of my girlfriends).
Isn't that pink & green gorgeous??? I can't get enough of it.

Not as girly as me? How about these guys? They still scream spring, but in a much more subtle way:) And yes, I know they don't have flowers on them, but I just couldn't put away the Flutter paper away... so cute.
My favorite part about this card is its simplicity (rare for me:) and the little Zva crystals that top the umbrellas.
I hope you'll join us for this week's challenge... be sure to check out all of the other Jacksonbelle Rockstars for more inspiration and then upload your take on this week's challenge to your SCS or PCP gallery using the keyword JBEO94 or post a comment on the JBE blog linking to your blog.

Happy Tuesday!  Thanks for visiting:)

Reasons for Mail... A Little Note Left Behind

Hello Friday! How did you get here so fast?

I've been working on the girl's scrapbooks lately and I love to stick little cards or notes in it along the way that they can find and open later in their life. So this week's Reasons for Mail is to leave a little note behind that someone will find later. Find a great quote and let it be your inspiration for what you leave in your note or card.

Inside this card, I will write a little message to my daughter to reminder her of the endless happiness and joy that she finds daily in her 2 year old world... and how much that means to me as her mother. I hope she continues to find the happy and good in life as easily as she does now.

To create this card:
1) a. cut card from kraft and adhere patterned paper that is cut slightly smaller than card  b. sew around edge of paper with a small zig zag stitch
2) adhere strip of striped patterned paper to card and embellish with pearls
3) tie on bow and embellish with button & crystal pins
4) adhere sentiment card with pop dots

Products used:
Patterned paper: Artsy Urban Collection: Green Bird (back) & Homespun Chic: Pink Redwork (back) by GCD Studios
Ribbon: 1 1/2 in Sparkle Satin Fuchsia Ribbon by Wrights
Other: Homespun Chic Collection: Inspiration Cards & Vintage Buttons; Hot Pink Pearls by Mark Richards USA; Vintage Findings Gem Pins by Making Memories

And a layout that I just couldn't help making with all of the beautiful goodies on my desk... (thus the reason for the name of my blog... if I make one, I usually make the other...)

The card to the right of the photo reads: "I have been absolutely terrified every moment of my life, but I have never let it keep me from doing a single thing, that I have wanted to do." - Georgia O'Keeffe

Don't you just love great quotes? I find so much inspiration in them... and hope you have enjoyed stopping by today. Have a wonderful weekend!

Scrap that Poetry... Challenge #10

Hi everyone! Scrap that Poetry has another great poem up for a challenge...

Freedom And Love

by Thomas Campbell

How delicious is the winning
Of a kiss at love's beginning,
When two mutual hearts are sighing
For the knot there's no untying!
Yet remember, 'Midst our wooing,
Love has bliss, but Love has ruing;
Other smiles may make you fickle,
Tears for other charms may trickle.
Love he comes, and Love he tarries,
Just as fate or fancy carries;
Longest stays, when sorest chidden;
Laughs and flies, when press'd and bidden.
Bind the sea to slumber stilly,
Bind its odour to the lily,
Bind the aspen ne'er to quiver,
Then bind Love to last for ever.
Love's a fire that needs renewal
Of fresh beauty for its fuel:
Love's wing moults when caged and captured,
Only free, he soars enraptured.
Can you keep the bee from ranging
Or the ringdove's neck from changing?
No! nor fetter'd Love from dying
In the knot there's no untying.

Want to play along? It's super easy, just make a card or layout based on the poem (you can use any or all of it for inspiration) and then link a photo of it in the comments here. I'd love to see your take on it!

Thanks for coming by!

Moxie Fab World Taintor-tude Challenge

Ok, so I hadn't planned on making a card for this one until yesterday when I happened to come across an old needle book in my sewing stash that was given to me by my mother-in-law when she found it at her mom's house. I have a reputation for liking old stuff. Anyway, I think this book is really cool  and the "Happy Home" brand with the women sitting around with their sewing notions in hand makes me chuckle. As soon as I saw it I knew that was my sign to get busy on this Moxie Fab Challenge...

This card is dedicated to Margaret Greiman, the original owner of this little sewing needle book (which is still full of mint condition needles... either she didn't use them much;) or those rust proof needles really do hold up over generations). Either way, I'm glad that they are now a part of my happy home.  Thanks Cath for providing this great challenge which brought them out of storage so I could share them with all of my Moxie Fab friends:)

I found the sentiment here and used two great papers from  Cosmo Cricket's new Material Girl Mini Deck... the colors are a perfect match to the palette of the book.

Thanks for visiting! I can't wait to hop around to see everyone else's sassy Taintor-tude cards!!!

CPS 153

Wow! Its been a long time since I played along at CPS and I hear this one is not to be missed because it is sponsored by Papertrey Ink. I have no Papertrey yet (its one of those things that I'm afraid to start... you know once you're hooked, it just becomes another paper crafter's addiction...) Perhaps I'll get lucky?

Here's my entry... I'm giving it to my mom (who does not read my blog... don't worry;)... she loves broaches.

I love hitting the jewelry supply aisle at my local craft store, such a fun way to add bling to a project! Just quick share tonight... I appreciate you stopping in!

No Time for an Elaborate Valentine?

Here's a little Valentine inspiration that you can put together quickly to let your loved one know how much they mean to you throughout the whole day... Mini-Valentines! Make a few minis and leave them hidden in thoughtful places throughout the house so that your loved one can find little handmade surprises on Valentine's Day.

My husband taught me that it is more fun to get lots of Valentines on Valentine's Day than just one. When we were in college, he used to surprise me with numerous cards throughout dinner or throughout the day. He'd start a story or love poem with the first card and then complete it with each card he gave me thereafter... so fun and romantic. Now I like to do it for him and I LOVE to leave little card treats for my girls on Valentine's Day. They think it is fun to find all of my little gifts... a mini scavenger hunt. Fun!!! and a family tradition that I hope they will always treasure.

Each of these cards measure 2 3/4 in x 2 3/4 in and uses Imaginisce's Sweet Cherry Collection.

Since its Wednesday, I thought I'd leave you with some Valentine and Love wisdom which may inspire a card or scrapbook page.

Absence sharpens love, presence strengthens it. ~Benjamin Franklin
Where there is love there is life. ~Gandhi
The best proof of love is trust. ~Joyce Brothers
Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. ~Aristotle

Thanks for visiting friends! Have a good one:)
