Just Be You...

All That is Gold Does Not Glitter

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

products used: patterned paper (American Crafts), flower center (Prima), ribbon (Offray), sentiment stamp (Technique Tuesday)

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge... Easter Cards!

Hi everyone! Its Jacksonbelle Tuesday and that means its challenge time:) This week's challenge is to create an Easter card or a card consisting of Easter colors... mine turned into that (sorry no bunnies here, only butterflies). So I share a little more Spring inspiration with you today...
This one is created with Pink Paislee's Enchanted collection,  Zva Creative flourishes and the gorgeous Sheer Twinkle Ribbon by May Arts. The stamp was one that I picked up at the grocery store last year (yes, I said grocery store... strange huh? you never know where you'll run into scraping supplies)

To create this card:
1) cut card from kraft and line inside with pink paper
2) trim 1/2" off the right and bottom sides of front flap of the card
3) adhere green dot die cut paper on front of card
4) add stripe patterned paper and ribbon
5) stamp sentiment
6) fussy cut butterflies and adhere to card with glue dots
7) embellish with crystals

Head on over to the other Rockstar's blogs for more Easter inspiration. We'd also love to see your take on this challenge too, all you have to do is upload a photo of your project to your SCS or PCP gallery using the keyword JBE098 or post a comment on the JBE blog linking to your blog.

That's all I have for today! Before I go I wanted to thank all of you for stopping by over the weekend for OWH's Spring Blog Hop... It was so much fun visiting with so many of you & thanks for your lovely comments:) Happy Tuesday!

I'm making headway with my spring scrap space cleaning...

... but as I progress, I find more and more cards to make (that I laid out and go buried) or photos that I (at some point) intended to scrap. So last night after finding this photo I put together this quick and easy layout with some of the 3" x 6" strips left over from the card I made on Tuesday.

Tonight I plan to break into my package that I just received from g.c.d Studios... it has the new Melody Ross Chip Art tool in it!!!  If you haven't seen it you can click here to see a video about it. Hopefully I'll have some cool stuff created with it to share soon:) Have a great Thursday!

Products: kraft (Paper Reflections), patterned paper (Queen Bee 6x6 paper pad by Pink Paislee); chipboard frame & chalk ink (Technique Tuesday); key hole (Melissa Francis); stickers (Cosmo Cricket)

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge... Show Us Your New Stuff!

Hi everyone! Many new things have arrived at Jacksonbelle Embellishments lately and today's challenge is to show us your new stuff! To play, use your favorite new product and upload your take on this week's challenge to your SCS or PCP gallery using the keyword JBE097 or post a comment on the JBE blog linking back to your blog.

My new favorite thing at Jacksonbelle is the Pink Paislee 6x6 paper pads... for this card I used mostly the Queen Bee collection but also the Bayberry Cottage.
I also love (and used) Zva Creative's NEW Crystal Symmetrical Flourishes and a sting of Crystal Lines along the bottom of my patterned paper. Lastly I added a tag stamped with sentiments by Stampavie and some May Arts ribbon.

To create this card:
1) cut card from kraft and ink edges
2) adhere black patterned paper onto card and sew around edges with a zig zag stitch
3) cut strips of patterned paper to 3"x6" and punch/cut the short sides with various scalloped punches/decorative edge scissors
4) layer patterned papers on to card trimming where necessary and **adhere only along the top** of each strip
5) to create depth add a pop dot under each layer toward the scalloped edge
6) embellish with crystals and ribbon
7) stamp tag, ink edges and tie onto bow with twine

Ok, so want to see some more ideas and inspiration using some fab new product? Just visit the other Jbelle Rockstars today.
Well that is all I have to share today. Thanks so much for visiting and Happy Tuesday!

Scrap that Poetry #12... A Blessing

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend. Ours was wet, but Campbell got her first umbrella for her birthday on Friday, so the rain was a good thing for us because she got to practice using it.

Well today I have Scrap the Poetry's new challenge to share. Perhaps it will be the inspiration for something creative that you make this week...

May the road rise to meet you
May the wind always be at your back
may the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again
may God hold you in the hollow of his hand

Here is how it inspired me...
Journaling reads: "Ahh, Spring has sprung, the sun is shinning and children play gleefully outside. Moms bask in the sun as all escape the house. This is one of the many blessings of this time."

If this Irish blessing inspires you, please share your work with us over at Scrap that Poetry. Its easy to join us, just link a photo of it into the comments section here.

Thanks for visiting today!

Creative People...

So I have a little more news to share (some of you have heard), but starting soon... I will be joining the g.c.d Studios design team as a card gal! Super uber yeah!!! (You can read about my reaction to the call I that got from Heidi Sonboul here). I have had the most amazing past couple or weeks... It still feels like I'm dreaming... Thanks you all for all of your kind well wishes and support! You have no idea how much  each one means to me:)

Anyway... as I look around my craft space (I work in a shared loft area), I think about how many hours it will probably take me to clean it out to get ready for this new adventure. So do I seize the moment and start cleaning? NO! I think of this darling little card in a pack of Melody Ross Homespun Chic Inspiration Cards & I make this...

So now my mess is a little bigger (especially with all of the glitter I used)... but I feel much better!
Good night all... Happy Weekend!

Did you ever have a fight with a card?

And loose? Today's card and I went round and round... it DID NOT want to get its picture taken. You know... one of those cards that just won't stand up? ...one that keeps sliding open & doing it so quickly that you don't even have time to snap your shot? I finally had to stick a pop dot in the crease of his fold to win this battle.

Anyway, enough about why this post didn't go live until after 2am... today at Jacksonbelle we have a sketch challenge! Whoot! Here is the sketch...

And here is the card that just about killed me:)
Now the good thing about this little guy is that all of the patterned paper used to make it is on sale at Jacksonbelle Embellishments!  All older lines of ImaginiscePink PaisleeStampavie and Jenni Bowlin are all 30% off! I mixed a little Pink Paislee with Jenni Bowlin and sentiment is from Stampavie.

We'll head on over to the other Rockstar's blog to see their take on this sketch. We'd also love to see what you do too, all you have to do is upload your take on this week's challenge to your SCS or PCP gallery using the keyword JBEO96 or post a comment on the JBE blog linking to your blog.

New Pink Paislee is now in the store! Check out their 6x6 paper pads...
they are definitely a new fav of mine!

Reasons for Mail...

Hi everyone, thanks for stopping in for this week's Reasons for Mail. Before we get started, I have some super exciting news...

I am honored to share with you that I have been selected to join Piggy Tales Academy Design Team.  I've been a fan of their product for several years now and am thrilled that I will have the opportunity to work with such a fun company over the next year! Thank you Piggy Tales!

So in celebration of this big event, today's Reasons for Mail card is created with one of my favorite Piggy Tales collections, Beauty and the Beast.
I love making cards without a sentiment... it allows one to include a favorite quote, handwrite something inside (nothing beats receiving a handwritten message) and send it off. Here is the quote I have in this one...
One's first step in wisdom is to question everything - and one's last is to come to terms with everything.
- Georg Christoph Lichtenberg
Be wise, be strong dear friends! Have a great weekend:)

To create this card:
1) cut card from kraft (4 1/4 in x 5 1/2 in)
2) adhere striped rectangle patterned paper
3) adhere glittered strip of patterned paper
4) embellish with pearls, ribbon, flowers, and gem pins
Products:
patterned paper: Castle and Beast from Beauty and Beast collection by Piggy Tales
kraft: Paper Reflections
pearls: Paper reflections by Michael's Inc.
fibers: 7/8 in orange satin ribbon
pins: Making Memories Vintage Findings Gem Pins
flowers: Prima Camero Roses
other: Juneberry Wine Glimmer Mist by Tattered Angels

This and that...

Happy Wednesday All! Just a few random things to share today...

I had a fab time at CKC Louisville! You can't beat quality crafting time with your best crafting buddy... thanks for going with me Anita:), abundant new products to shop and learning new things by taking great classes.

I took the Live in the Moment-Designed by Ali Edwards class from Technique Tuesday and would totally recommend it if anyone is headed to CKC at some point this year.

I created all of the projects in class & then with a few scraps & my class leftovers, I was able to make two photo frames for my husband to hang in his cubicle at work...
So fun! They were a big hit:) I love it when he likes my stuff... for the most part he is indifferent about my addiction:)

Another fun share today is that I have been blogging for 1 year! Yeah!!! I can't believe how fast it has gone by... last March I remember sitting here thinking am I really doing this? Am I really starting blog? I had no idea the doors that would it would open for me and the connections it would help me make. It is amazing... via this blog I have met so many wonderful, like minded, beautifully crafty people.  You keep my creativity flowing daily and I thank you so much for spending part of your day with me. I have enjoyed visiting all of you at your blogs and look forward to another great year with all of you, my wonderful blog readers!

As a thank you, I have a give a way... I made a set of thank you cards, a little pocket notepad (a must have) and a copy of Card Creations: Start to Finish Vol 2. Leave a comment here by the end of the day on Friday & I will pick a winner to send it to on Saturday.

Lastly I wanted to share this link to a blog called All Things Paper. I think today's post on mini quilled poeple is so cool, check it out:)

Thanks for visiting today & always!!!

Sincerely,

Scrap That Poetry #11....Oh the Places You'll Go...

Most everyone knows today's poem, Oh, The Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss... and I have to tell you that our design team rocked this one, so if you don't normally click over to Scrap That Poetry, today is the day to start... there are some super fun layouts and even one delightful mini album that you may want to scraplift;)

Here is my take... I love the colorful words and just the theme in general, so this is what resulted from that inspiration...
A simple and colorful layout...I love it when fab patterned paper does all of the work for you. I chose not to hyphenate you will because my 4 year old is learning to read was helping me make this page so I kept it simple for her... I should probably jot that on the back of my layout so in future years I won't want to go back and change it to match the actual way it was written by Dr. Seuss.

We'd love to see your work! It's super easy, just make a card or layout based on the poem (you can use any or all of it for inspiration) and then link a photo of it in the comments here. Until tomorrow!

Products: patterned paper & letter stickers (Piggy Tales Beauty and the Best collection); pen (uniball Signo white)
