June Inspiration... everything you need

It is 65 degrees and there is a light breeze in the air... the sun shines down on your face and warms your skin. You are sitting on in your favorite outdoor spot with an iced drink of choice... your feet are up... you gaze into the crisp, arresting blue and white sky and hear nothing but silence... a butterfly lands beside you...

Jacksonbelle Tuesday... A fond farewell

Well folks.... today is our last Jacksonbelle Tuesday post. The online store will close its virtual doors on June 30th (everything is now 75% off so go shop). Its has been a great pleasure to be a part of Jacksonbelle's design team over the past six months... working with Lindsey, Heather, Lynda and the rest of the Jbelle Rockstars has been a privilege. One of its highlights that I will miss most is visiting all of our challenge player's blogs each week and seeing all of their wonderful cards. Without lamenting further here is my card...
I used some of my last purchases from the store here... Cosmo Cricket's 6x6 Joy Ride paper, burgundy May Arts ribbon, and Vintage Findings gems pins by Making Memories. Stamp is from Unity and butterfly punch from Martha Stewart Crafts.

Even though this is a farewell to our Jacksnbelle Tuesday challenges, I'm certain that I will be seeing you all elsewhere and it is so nice that I now know you because of it:)

Hugs!

I Want to Ride My Bicycle Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

Happy Monday! Just jumping in at the last minute to play along with the I Want to Ride My Bicycle Challenge in the Moxie Fab World. The challenge is to create a project that uses a bicycle in an innovative way. Here is my card...
The only bicycle that I had in my collection was this Hambly screen print paper and I'm so glad to have the opportunity to use it. I bought it with the intent to scrap the girls on their bikes, but you know how that goes... anyway, I really LOVE the sentiment (Hero Arts: Clear Essential Messages)... the bicycle symbolizes the adventure and since summer happiness = beach (to me), I added a shell to signify for that.

Thanks for visiting, I hope you have a good one!

YOU.

Hi all! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. Ours has been really good... starting with a backyard camp out Friday night and a pool/birthday party for my brother last night. Today we hope to just chill and hang out around the house.

Yesterday was particularly good because I got to scrap after everyone crashed in their beds... I defiantly don't do it enough and need to make a more concerted effort to try to make some sort of layout at least once a week. I've also been listening to The Paperclipping Roundtable (a free podcast that has different guests and scrapbooking topics each week... more info here: http://www.paperclipping.com/) lately and it has gotten me back into the memory keeping mode.

Anyway, here is my page...
Journaling reads:
You. right now
You. rarely look at the camera (that is why I love this picture so)
You. two year old
You. girly girl with the most beautiful curly locks of hair
You. tutu lover
You. have a best friend Campbell
You. love broccoli and wear a size 8 shoe
You. were NEVER mommy's baby
You. only snuggle when you are sleepy
You. love your grandmas
You. are my reason why
A fun trend right now is decking out stick pins by add additional jewels, baubles or even small buttons to them... well I didn't have anything on hand that would work on pins so I improvised by adding a punched butterfly to my pins. I think it gives the same effect and I really like the look it gives. Here's another example on a card...

Well, that is all I have to share today.  A most sincere thanks for your visit:)

Products: patterned paper (Crate Paper: Brooke collection, October Afternoon: Fly a Kite collection, My Mind's Eye: Lush collection), ribbon (Michael's Stores Inc.), clear stamp (Simply You by Ali Edwards), butterfly punch (Martha Stewart Crafts), stick pins (Vintage Findings Gem pins by Making Memories)

Card Medallions

Hello! One of my favorite things to do when making cards is to create my own embellishments. Right now I am addicted to making these folded medallions... I think they are a great way to add dimension and ensure that your embellies are a perfect match.

Patterned paper (GCD Studios: Artsy Urban mat pad), glitter stickers, tool (GCD Studios: Chip Art Tool and flower center stamps), paint (Glimmer Mist), cardstock (white), other (scalloped edge decorative scissors)

To create card:
1) make card from cardstock
2) adhere patterned paper from mat pad
3) adhere medallion on card
4) stamp and paint chipboard, allow to dry and adhere to medallion, add punched paper and number sticker

To make medallion:
Punch edge of paper
Cut into a 12" long strip. Vary width of strip to change size of medallion
Score at every 1/4" mark
Make accordion fold at score marks
Adhere ends
Fold in medallion flat
Glue to disc

Patterned paper (GCD Studios: Artsy Urban mat pad),  layered flowers (Artsy Urban), glitter stickers, cardstock (kraft), other (scalloped edge decorative scissors)
To create card:
1) make card from kraft
2) adhere patterned paper from mat pad
3) adhere letter stickers
4) tie on bow
5) fold and layer medallion with parts of Artsy Urban layered flower and adhere to bow

Have a great day!

Sunshine

Hi everyone! The July/August Issue of Paper Crafts is out... yeah! Its a great summer issue:)
I am so excited (and thankful) to have couple cards in it. Here's one of my favorites... it is in the Color Play section on page 33.

Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.

Happy Wednesday!

BFFs

Hi guys! Everything at Jacksonbelle Embellishments is now marked down to 75% off. So hurry on over and help Lindsey clear out the store and get some great deals at the same time!  If you are a ribbon lover, there is still some May Arts ribbon left:)

Here's a quick and simple card idea using ribbon and scrap letters.
To create this card:
1) make card from kraft
2) punch scalloped border & adhere to card
3) tie on ribbons
4) adhere letters and gem border

Thats it! Easy peasy & fun:) Now hop on around to the rest of the Jbelle Rockstar blogs for some more fun card ideas this week.

Thanks for visiting:) Have a good day!!

Back Home!

Hi all! We are back from vacation... I don't think I love anything more than the beach. There is just something about it that makes me feel totally connected with nature. I'm not sure if its the sand, the water, the sun, the wind or the whole combination of it but its a wonderful feeling.

This is a photo of one of my favorite memories from this trip... everyday Hadley would scour the beach to find her favorite shells and then she would plant a flower shell garden in the sand. She would take great care in the placement of her shells and then spend hours watering them with her little purple and white watering can. Such a sweet act by my sweet, sweet (and new) 3 year old (she also celebrated her birthday while we were there).

While Hadley was out on the beach, Campbell was working on her deep water swimming skills in the pool. By the time we left, she was swimming and jumping into 8 ft water without any floaties. She was so excited and proud about her new skill and for that reason it was another highlight of the trip.

It was a great trip... I even squeezed in a little crafting time. Here's a card using Cosmo Cricket's new Delovely collection (I just LOVE it & can't wait to scrap with it too:).

To create card:
  1. make card from patterned paper
  2. tie bow on card
  3. stamp sentiment
  4. mount elements image on patterned paper and adhere to card with foam adhesive over the ribbon
  5. tie another smaller bow and adhere to top of 1st bow with glue dots
  6. tie on button with floss
I'd recommend picking up Delovely's Elements sheet... it has a lot of cute "all occassion" sentiments that you can cut out and add to either cards or layouts... I've made several cards already with mine and haven't even really put a dent in my sheet... good deal!

Thanks for visiting today! Have a great Monday:)

update: added a better photo of card

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping in to see my card for Kazan's Sketch this week over at 2S4Y. Its been a long time since I've played along over there, so I'm excited to get a card finished for it this week. I obviously have wedding on the brain so here is one for a bride to be or happy couple:)

I'm always looking for great quotes to include in wedding cards... here is one of my favorites...

True love stories never have endings.  ~Richard Bach

Do you have any that you use?  I'd love to here them:)
