Paper Crafts Magazine Presents: The 12 Designers of Christmas Blog Hop

Hello and welcome! Today I'm here to celebrate Paper Crafts Magazine's Holiday Cards & More, Vol. 5, a fabulous holiday issue filled full of ideas & inspiration for everything from holiday cards and gift wrap to decor and gifts.

This issue is essential for any holiday crafter... my kids have even thumbed through it and marked cards that they want to make for friends and family this Christmas.  The girls are always "helping" me when I break out my crafting supplies and while working on this issue we had a blast listening to holiday music, burning our pine scented candles... even breaking out the hot chocolate, marshmallows and candy canes. We love to play... and there is nothing better than playing pretend Christmastime! The girls and I are now ready to do it all over again in mass to get our family holiday cards (and more) ready... are you?

On today's blog hop 11 designers and I will share projects made with patterns from three projects in Holiday Cards & More, Vol. 5. Here is my take on Becky Olsen's Holiday Plaid Gift Bag on page 104... this darling little gift bag is super easy recreate!
Visit Paper Crafts Connection to see all of the original inspiration projects plus you can get the patterns HERE.

If you want a chance to win big... REALLY BIG (seriously, check out the prize over at Paper Crafts Connection if you haven't had a chance to yet... one lucky person will win 12 holiday collections... wow!) simply hop to all of the 12 designer's blogs plus Paper Crafts Connection and Moxie Fab World and leave a comment on each... that's 14 chances to win some serious loot...

PLUS I have one copy of Holiday Cards & More, Vol. 5 to give away to one commenter on my blog...  just leave a comment telling me what color combo you would use for your holiday cards (even if you are not making them;)... do you love the traditional red & green or something else? All comments must be posted by midnight (MDT) on Sunday, September 19. The grand prize winner will be announced on Paper Crafts Connection on Tuesday, September 21 and the winner of a free issue of Holiday Cards & More, Vol. 5 will be announced here... good luck!

Have fun and don't forget to visit all of the Designers of Christmas for more fabulous inspiration!
Take care!

Last year it was pink and white or red and white and lots of stickles. This year it looks like it will be pink, moss green and white with some red plaid thrown in and lots of stickles.

Wonderful bag!! I am traditional in my colors. However, I usually only use red, no green.

Mine are blue and white this year; usually they're the more traditional red and green.

Gorgeous and elegant..great for any holiday!! I love most combo's, but find myself using red and white...love the elegance that white brings!!

Wow! LOVE the bag. I like crisp, clean colors usually, lots of white and red and silver with little hits of a clear green. But, this bag has me re-thinking that.

I do need to use traditional red and green. This year I have been using some really bright colors for Christmas tree blubs to go on cards.

Bonnie said...

Love the simple elegance of that bag. Love the colors. When I make cards the colors depend on the feel of the card. If I'm going for a more fun, whimsical card I go with the traditional red, green, white. If I'm trying for a more elegant feel I tend to lean towards the deeper red/burgundy and cream with some gold thrown in.

smahrty said...

so pretty and elegant! love the lines of little jewels.

Carla S. said...

Your gift bag is gorgeous! I love the vintage look! Such elegant details! My favorite color combo for Christmas cards is pretty traditional - rich red/burgundy, green, gold and ivory.

Scrappywonder said...

really like the classic feel of your bag! I recently just finshed a dozen cards with classic colors of very vanilla, blushing bride, cherry cobbler, always artichoke & river rock, which gave me a vintage feel... however, if I'm looking for a non-traditional festive touch then I always reach for teal, purple/magenta & pink, sometimes adding mint to the mix... tfs R ;)

I've been looking, looking, looking to see what jumps out at me.

My favorite holiday color scheme kinda depends on the style I'm going for. I love the traditional red, green and gold (which you pulled off perfectly!) but I'm from up north so blue, red/pink and silver (something snowy and cool) is what I usually end up with :)

Already working on cards, and I've got traditional and nontraditional all going on, but my favorite is probably brown, cream and red. I like a rustic feel, simple, and those colors can be elegant, fun or simple.

This box is so beautiful! For my holiday cards, I tend to use a deep, dark red with a mix of other colors (depending on the year.) But the red is a staple for my Christmas card designs! smiles....

MorethanWordsCardDesign said...

Last year all my cards had black in them. Actually the base of the card was black and then had black and white music notes and then one patterned Christmas paper in an actual color - I made about 6 in each of the different patterned papers - somewhere around 30-40 cards.

This year the theme for my cards will be either snowman or snowflakes. I haven't decided yet. But I'm definitely thinking along the lines of light blue, and a light purple, maybe even a light pink. A bit untraditional for Christmas cards but maybe that's just me.

Helen F. said...

Windy, your gift bag is so beautiful and elegant! Love the colors you chose too. I tend to like non-traditional colors like dark blue and silver or pastels for my Christmas cards.

Beautiful design! I love cream and that lovely red together! My cards are all over the place colorwise (I don't do just one card each year, it's more like multiples of 10 different designs), but I liked last years' colors of blue and cranberry, with a touch of cream - they look so rich! Thanks for the chance to win and for your inspiration!

Anonymous said...

Love your elegant take on this project. Beautiful!
I seem to be pretty traditional in my Christmas color choices. Red, Green, Kraft, gingham - But, sometimes I've been known to choose wintery blue's and more of an icy look!

Erica Hettwer said...

Last years cards were aqua and white and red and I LOVED them. I'll probably do something along those lines again. Or, take my color palatte from some cool retro glass Christmas balls, aqua, pink, lime. Just fun, happy colors!

Kim said...

Your bag is so elegant! I usually do 4-5 designs every year (I get bored doing 60+ of the same! LOL) I always have a blue/silver combo and a red/white combo, the rest can change. Last few years I had olive-y green and mustard combo--was kinda playing on the pear tree idea...still have 10 more years to go!

Very elegant! Beautiful!
I like the traditional red and green, but I also like an aqua/ red and white combo. Looks really fresh!
