Raspberry Suite's Color Challenge 18... grateful heart

Long day... my body aches for bed... I am tired but have a grateful heart because I got to spend a gorgeous fall day with my two beautiful girls. Before bed I had to put a card together for Dawn's new color challenge (I do have my priorities;). I'll be on vacation soon and I'm NOT taking my crafting supplies, so I need to squeeze in all I can before I go.

Happy Thursday! I hope you all are doing well.

Products: patterned paper (Basic Grey), cardstock (Bazzill), kraft (Paper Reflections), rubber stamp (Hero Arts CLING), sentiment stamp (Renaissance by Design), punches (Martha Stewart Crafts), others (scrap ribbon), button (Basic Grey), pearl (My Little Yellow Bicycle)

I think I'm in love...

... with a paper punch. Is that possible? Shhhh.... don't tell my husband.

I have a little poem to share that I love to read to my girls, especially my four year old who really gets into it... she is just learning her letters and the sounds they make so this one is fun for her to listen to. Enjoy!

The Hag is astride,
    This night for to ride;
The Devill and shee together:
    Through thick, and through thin,
    Now out, and then in,
Though ne’r so foule be the weather.

    A Thorn or a Burr
    She takes for a Spurre:
With a lash of a Bramble she rides now,
    Through Brakes and through Bryars,
    O’re Ditches, and Mires,
She followes the Spirit that guides now.

    No Beast, for his food,
    Dares now range the wood;
But husht in his laire he lies lurking:
    While mischiefs, by these,
    On Land and on Seas,
At noone of Night are working,

    The storme will arise,
    And trouble the skies;
This night, and more for the wonder,
    The ghost from the Tomb
    Affrighted shall come,
Cal’d out by the clap of the Thunder.

The Hag by Robert Herrick (1648)

Moxie Fab World Challenge: Not Your Regular Ruffles

A quick post tonight with my entry for Moxie Fab World's Challenge: Not Your Regular Ruffles...  I love the texture created by ruffling this thick lace.

Inside reads: So Mommy Can Enjoy Her New Happy Hour (Your Nap Time;)

This one is very simple to make, just staple the ruffle around a cardboard disc and cover with paper to hide staples. Have a good night!

Products: patterned paper (Creative Imaginations); lace (Prima), cardstock (Core'dinations, Bazzill)

A sketch to share... Use Up Your Scraps

Hi all!  Its been a crazy busy week and my Halloween parade got a little delayed, but with just two weeks until Halloween I think its time to start cranking out the Halloween projects before my favorite holiday is gone for another year...

Anyway, since it feels like its been so long since I've visited I thought I'd share a sketch with you tonight. This one is one that I've been inspired by lately.

You can click here and here to see a few other cards that show variations on this sketch. I hope you enjoy!

My Lil' Pumpkin

Just a quick post with a fun little 8x8 inch Halloween page to share of my little pumpkin on her first Halloween.

I hope you are all finding the perfect Halloween costume for your little ones (or yourself). This year my girls are going as Thing 1 and Thing 2 (with a twist)... Campbell is going to be a glammy pink version of Thing 1 ("because I came out first, right Mommy? so I get to be Thing 1, right Mommy?") and Hadley will be her little purple bejeweled side kick:) The blue hair wasn't girly enough for my two girly girls, so they wanted to change it up a bit... I can't wait to snap those pictures!

Happy weekend to you all!

Scrap that Poetry Challenge #2- Phenomenal Woman

Its October 15th... time for our second challenge at Scrap That Poetry! Whoot! The inspiration for this challenge is the poem "Phenomenal Woman" by Maya Angelou. I remember the first time I heard the poem... it was read by Maya Angelou (probably on Oprah), and even though it was years ago, I still remember it like it was just yesterday. The words flowed from her in a very distinguished, deep tone... its not often that you get to hear such a remarkable poem read by its writer... I won't forget it.

To me, this poem to me is direct and to the point. Not a lot of journaling here, just a strong, clear and concise statement. I also tried to let my layout style reflect that as well... while this is not necessarily my signature style, it (to me) is more reflective of this poem.

We'd love to see how "Phenomenal Woman" inspires your scrapbooking!  To play along (or just see how others interpret it;), join us over at Scrap That Poetry:)  Thanks for stopping in, I hope you all are having a good week!

Card and Page Monday... now that its October...

... I can inundate you with Halloween themed projects (yes, I'm the girl that decorates her house for Halloween when the first leaf hits the ground:)

I had fun playing along over at Sketchy Thursdays again with this 2nd Chance Challenge that had "Candy Inspiration" as the prompt for the layout. As soon as I read the prompt, I knew which photos would work perfectly for my layout...

I'll never forget my 2 year old saying "Stop!! Stop taking my picture..." She was so annoyed with me that she wouldn't smile because all she wanted to do was eat her sucker... it was the first sucker I ever let eat and she seriously treasured that candy.

Here are a couple of minis for my cards... miniatures are so fun to make. They are perfect to stick on a batch of freshly baked cookies or bread that you could send over to the neighbors (if you're feeling Martha Stewartish).

I hope you all have a great Monday! Thanks for stopping by:)

World Card Making Day 2009

Thanks for stopping by on this very fun day...  World Card Making Day!  I just started making cards earlier this year and I have to tell you, it has been such a joy in my life.  Not only is it an awesome creative outlet (a much needed break from the laundry, dishes and diaper duty), but it is a great way to meet some of the most wonderful people from all around the world. The network of card makers and paper crafters that I have met in the past few months is invaluable and very special to me, so I want to say...

You all are the nicest and kindest people out there... I wish you all were my neighbors (wouldn't that be fun... we could have craft night EVERY night:)!

As a special thanks to you for stopping by, I'll be giving away a handmade note card set (posted here) and a Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly Mini Deck (to help you get a start on those holiday cards;) to a random winner. Just leave me a comment telling me how many blogs you've visited today & I'll draw and post a winner tomorrow (10/4). Now hop back to The World Card Making Day site to partake in more fun or visit other bloggers linked on this hop!

Have a happy, happy day and thanks for stopping by!
