Zva Creative Feb. DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

There is now an added twist to our blog hops, YAY!  As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at
Kim Hughes' blog: Paper Hugs. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, February 28th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, March 1st and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, March 2nd on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on
Kim Hughes‘s blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Today my card features ORANGE! Its funny because I'm not a huge fan of orange in my day to day life, but I LOVE to use orange in my paper crafting projects! This card has Zva's Basic Lines Orange Crystals (CRW-03CB 146) and Peach Mini Roses. I think there is just something so gorgeous about bling paired with roses and satin ribbon!
Thank you SO MUCH for joining us today!

Don't forget that the blog hop begins here: Kim Hughes

&
Your next stop is here: Julianne McKenna-De Lumen

Supplies:
Bling & Roses (Zva Creative), Patterned Paper (Pink Paislee),  Spray Color (Smooch Spray), Clear Stamp (Hero Arts Just Find Me), ink (Walnut Stain), thread (Coats & Clark), ribbon (Michaels Stores Inc).

What's Going On...

Hi everyone... I've been busy plugging away at submissions for Paper Crafts Go-to Sketches Vol. 2. I actually have 2 sketches that will be in the issue (look for #51 & #60). Are any of you planning on submitting?  I think you should:) I know I have a few scrapbooking friends out there who are contemplating breaking into card making... well... what are you waiting for? This is the perfect call to get started with:) You can find the details & sketches HERE! I'd love to see your work published (and if any of you use one of my sketches you get bonus points in my book;).  Just a note, this is a cards only call & it ends on Monday night 2/28 at midnight MST.

I also have some fabby news to share! I have been invited to join the Spellbinders Design Team for 2011... yeah!!! You can find the entire announcement HERE. I'm kind of speechless about it & way happy. So thankful to have the opportunity to work with the following ladies (I've linked to their blogs so you can check them out):
Lesley Langdon

Now that the contest is over we can share our first & second round projects. I submitted this card for my first round...
Floral Thank You
Supplies: die (Spellbinders Shapeabilities Daisy Heads),patterned paper (Webster's Pages),  cabochons (Making Memories), stamp (Unity Stamp Co.), pearls (Zva Creative)

...and this layout for my second round entry...
100% Genuine Friends
Supplies: die (Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles), patterned paper & alphabet (Jillibean Soup Blossom Soup Collection), rub-on (Chatterbox), cardstock & felt (Papertrey Ink)

Well, I hope you all are having a good week! I still have a spiral rose tutorial in the hopper... my husband headed out of town for business so my girls & I decided to have an impromptu painting party to convert their toddler room into a "big kids" room. Needless to say, its taking longer than I anticipated to cover their room in Punch colored paint. When its finished (probably a month from now) I'll post picts!

Vintage Floral Frame

We have been having such unseasonably warm weather here, some days have been in the mid-60s... it has been amazing! Hopefully our "early Spring" doesn't just consist of these few days.

Here's a spring project with those super popular rolled roses (they were everywhere at CHA)... defiantly a big trend that I'm seeing in the blogosphere as we get closer to spring.
To Create Frame:
1) spray paint wooden frame, sand and ink with foam blender sponge
2) cover all cardboard with patterned paper
3) make seven rolled paper roses with coordinating patterned paper using Glue Dots Permanent Glue Dots and adhere to frame using Glue Dots as well
4) adhere pearl flourishes

To Create Tag:
1) stamp and ink edges of tag
2) create rolled paper rose and adhere to tag
3) ink string on tag

All of the patterned paper here is from Melody Ross' new Soul Food collection by GCD Studios. Gorgeous stuff! The frame is one of the $1 ones from Michaels. Pearls & paint are from my stash of stuff that is several years old:) I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink to distress the frame and flowers.

Supplies:
Adhesive: Permanent Glue Dots
Frame: Michaels Stores Inc
Patterned Paper: Soul Food collection by GCD Studios
Paint: Krylon Cameo Pink Spray Paint
Pearls: Prima
Ink: Walnut Stain Distress Ink

Take care & if you have the warm weather now too, enjoy!

Kid's Art Cards

Hi all! I hope you are having a great week:) Below is a blog post that I wrote for Glue Dots® that I thought would be fun to share here...
Kids grab your paints and markers... moms grab your Glue Dots®  and cardstock. Together you can make personalized cards for the whole family.
To create personalized kid's art cards:
1) Allow kids to get create on any 81/2" x 11" sized paper (or smaller) with paint, markers, and crayons (avoid using any dimensional embellishments because artwork will need to be scanned).
2) Scan artwork into computer.
3) Use a photo editing program to add sentiments to artwork. Making these cards yourself allows you to personalize and taylor them to suit your family. For example... every time my 3 year old sees a snowman she yells out "Happy Birthday" because she just learned that is what Frosty says when he puts on his old silk hat and comes to life, so for our winter birthday cards we drew Frosty holding a "Happy Birthday" sentiment.

Tip: This project was created with online photo editing at picnick (http://www.picnik.com)... Picnick has many photo editing capabilities which are free to use.
4) Print out each picture and adhere to a cardstock card.
Tip: I use the Poster Glue Dots® on this type of card because they hold well, but my recipient can remove them at a later date and save the photo if desired.

Zvalicious Post

Hello all my friends, how are you all doing? So glad to have a few minutes to share some projects and just be able to sit down at the computer... things have been a whirlwind around here lately ending with two sick little ones. But life is getting back to normal... thank goodness!

Here are a few cards that I created for Zva Creative to display at CHA... yum!  The new designs are just so deliciously pretty:)

Its never hard to make a card when you have such wonderful product to use as inspiration!

I hope you all are doing well. I'm off to bed since its time for me to catch up on some much needed sleep. Scratch that... my little one just started crying. Talk to you all soon!
