Zva Creative August DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and my fellow Design Team members welcome you to our August blog hop! We are excited happy you are joining us and look forward to sharing our new work with you!
Today's Blog Hop begins at Zva Creative's Facebook page! Be sure head on over to check it out!
Here's a list of participants (in case there is a glitch along the way):
Windy Robinson (you are here!)

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  If you like what you see along the hop you can find a list of stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

If you would like to play along with our design team, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!
The Blog Hop starts today, August 26th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, August 27th.
***Prizes***
Hidden on FIVE of the designer's blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Blog Hop post... you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you comment along the blog hop path, the more chances you will have to win.

The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, August 28th on Zva Creative's Facebook page! We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to Zva's page on Wednesday to see if you are a winner!
We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize!  To increase your chances of winning:
* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products.  If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry.

The blog hop begins here at Zva Creative's Facebook page! Your next stop is Marilia Lopes. Enjoy!
Thank you for joining us!
P.S. Mark your calendar to join us again on September 30th for our next Zva blog hop!

Special Guest: Monica Bradford from Scrap Inspired

Hi! I’m Monica Bradford from scrapinspired.com and I’ve hijacked Windy’s blog today to share a little inspiration with you! Don’t worry Windy still has plenty of inspiration to share as well. In fact today she is over at my site with a gorgeous new card.

Why is she over there and I’m over here? Well today we have decided to do an inspiration blog swap. I have chosen one of Windy’s beautiful cards to inspire a scrapbook layout. And Windy chose one of my layouts to inspire a card. Fun right? So let the inspiration begin!

I was immediately drawn to Windy’s “Sending Hugs” card. I loved the bold colors combined with a Kraft background. I also loved the way Windy layered the papers and added a bit of stitching detail. And her use of a bold pattern combined with a bit of shine…stunning! Those elements were what I kept in mind as I began designing my layout.

After choosing which of Windy’s cards I wanted to use as my inspiration I went looking for photos that would work with that color palette. This recent shot of my boys with their cousins seemed like a perfect fit. I printed the photo out at 5x7 so that it would be the main focal point of my layout.

Of course I started with a kraft background and then went searching for some patterned papers. I knew I wanted to stick with the yellow color from Windy’s card but after that I just went with what I had in my stash. I even found a fun floral print, but since I’m scrapping my boys I kept the print small and as the background layer rather than placing it in the forefront.

Underneath the photo I used letter stickers to add my title and a saying. I just love how those clear letter stickers look like they are a part of the heart paper underneath!

This little kraft journaling card was a perfect way to bring some of the kraft color onto the front of the page, like Windy did in her card. And it was a great way to create space for my story so it wouldn’t have to compete with the busy background underneath.

I loved the way Windy’s card included so many little details such as the stitching, the sequins, and the overall shimmer. I added some of those details to my scrapbook layout in my own way. I too added stitching, and I brought in the shimmer by spraying the wood veneer pieces with some gold spray mist. Who says a boy page can’t have a bit of shine?!!

Thanks so much for letting me share with you today! I hope you enjoyed the inspiration blog swap. If you’d like to see more of what I do you can visit me at http://scrapinspired.com. I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

I hope you have a wonderfully inspired day!

Monica

CASE Study 3rd Anniversary Blog Hop

Hello crafty friends! CASE Study Challenge Blog is celebrating its third birthday & I'm here to help celebrate by creating a special card for their blog hop.

If you arrived from the blog of Heather Pulvirenti, you are on the right path. If you are just joining in here you can find the start HERE.
Since CASE Study challenges are all about finding inspiration from others, we were asked to share something that we create and the inspiration for it. Well I decided to use one of my favorite scrapers as my inspiration. Here is a layout that was created by Christin Gr√łnnslett for Zva Creative's DT blog hop last month and I immediately fell in love with it.
...gorgeous huh? I always dig Christin's style... she rocks freestyle & collage like no other, but I particularly loved this one because of the colors, stenciling and that mini banners that connects her photo to her title.  If you like Christin's layout as much as I did, please hop on over to her blog Umenorskans Scrappeblog after the hop. You will find tons of other great inspiration over there;)

Here's the card I created...

To create this card:
*all supplies pictured below
Attach stencil to the front of card with washi tape. Sponge Luminarte Silks glaze through the stencil. Remove stencil & let card dry.
Lightly spray card with gold shimmer spray. Allow card to dry.
Tack stencil back in place and stamp text with black ink (yes, that is my daughter's old burb cloth!--I use those to catch & clean up all my messes)
Stamp & cut out tag.
Apply gold ink to tag.
Make banner by adding washi tape to twine and cutting into triangle pennants.
Then stamp sentiment and add all embellishments to card as pictured.

Ok, so now its it time to hop on. Your next stop is Jen Rzasa's blog Our Change of Art. Please enjoy the hop & Happy Birthday CASE Study!
