Zva Creative April DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals.  We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at
Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path.  I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, April 25th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, April 26th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 27th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above). We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

My colors for the month are blue and navy... perfect for summer, don't you think?

Ready for Mother's Day?

If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?  ~Milton Berle

Ok... so I didn't realize that Mother's Day was coming up so fast, it will be here in less than 20 days... oh my! Here is an idea for a quick Mother's Day gift... a tray and desk caddy. I use similar items around my craft space to catch things like my scissors, adhesive and the like when I working so it doesn't get buried under my pile of mess.
The tray is actually really easy to make and is something you can do in about 30 minutes. I started with a set of unfinished wooden trays that I picked up from Michael's for about $4, then I adhered two 12x12 patterned papers to the tray. I overlapped them on each other and used Permanent Glue Dots to adhere them to the tray.  Then I trimmed off the excess paper on the short end. Lastly, you adhere clear buttons to the patterned paper... to speed up the project, I used Glue Dots® Crafts Dots to adhere them.
I really like this project because it can be easily changed up to suit a recipient by changing out the patterned paper. I used Anna Griffin's Carmen collection because it is one of my new favorite collections and my mom likes orange, but think about how cute this would be if you used October Afternoon's 5 & Dime Collection or maybe Cosmo Cricket's Social Club collection. I wish I had the time to make one in every collection, but I must first finish my mother in law's...shhh, don't tell:)

Anyway, here are the instructions to create the coordinating desk caddy...
1) line bottom of upcycled box (this one was a lid from a candle box) with patterned paper
2) roll up 1" x 6" strips of patterned paper, hold together with Mini Glue Dots
3) apply a Continuous Glue Line around outside of box and adhere rolls on to the strip of adhesive

Happy Tuesday! Thanks for visiting today:)

Happy Spring!

Hello everyone, I'm back from a little blogging break and here to share my last GCD Studios project of the 2010 term. Our assignment was to create a spring themed card or layout. It was tough narrowing down my options to make only two cards because several new collections are just chock full of colors and elements that could make beautiful spring cards.

After much deliberation I came up with these using Donna Salazar's Spring in Bloom collection and Melody Ross' Soul Food Embellishments.
Aren't those roses from Donna's collection G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S? And they are so easy to fussy cut and add to a card. I just love them!

My rose plants are starting to sprout their leaves... I can't wait until they are in full bloom. How is your garden coming along? Have a nice Friday & thanks for stopping by today!

Hop on over this week and take a look at some projects HERE.

Well, I must tend to the dishes before bed... I've totally been procrastinating on that one all day. I'm not sure when I'll be back... most likely some time after Sunday. So take care for now & have a wonderful week:)
