Moxie Fab Silhouettes

Hello!

Before I get into today's post... I have to say, I just LOVED reading about everyone's lovely words, songs, inside jokes and silly things that you do and say to your loved ones from yesterday... it was such a good comment day- thank you for sharing them!

Today over at Moxie Fab World I am talking about silhouettes (if you haven't visited yet today, click on over and check it out) and here at my blog I'm taking a stab at making silhouettes of my girls.

Over at Moxie Fab World I share some of my favorite whimsical silhouettes of children at play, but since I'm a newbie silhouette maker I thought I'd get my feet wet with the form of silhouette portraiture that capture's ones likeness from only the shoulders up.

So here is what I created...
To make this project:
1) Take a photo your subject's profile.
 2) Print the image out on photo paper (here I printed mine as an 8" x 10"). Fussy cut around the outside of the silhouette.
3)  Apply a line of removable adhesive around the outside of the back of the photo.
4) Adhere photo to canvas. Variation: adhere to 12"x12" cardstock to make a scrapbook page, or print photo smaller to place on front of a card, journal etc.
5) Spray with glimmer mist.
6) Allow surface to dry and remove photo.
There's the silhouette... so simple! Now, because I go a bit crazy when it comes to projects like this, I decided to take a trip to Hobby Lobby and see if they had frame or something that would work with it. Here's what I found:
Its a pin board. And for once I'm thankful that I decided to use something like canvas instead of paper (no I never fully think these things through before I start on them... I'm a jump in and improvise as I go kind of gal). So I popped off the frame and adhered my canvas to the front of the board.
Then I adhered the frame back in place with a hot glue gun and finished the project by embellishing it with flowers and bling.
It was so easy and fun that I made a second one for my oldest daughter. Hmm... now I need to get them each desks.... wouldn't these boards look darling hanging over a desk?
Oh... the whole process was much easier than I expected... maybe I will try the whimsical silhouette of my kids at play next. Thanks for visiting... hope you all have a terrific Thursday!
